The Perfect Coffee

LIMITED BLEND IS NOW LIVE!

Last week we mentioned we would be roasting a limited edition blend every month using a different bean for each blend. Finally, after much research, experimenting and cupping, we are pleased to release El Salvador - El Cipres. El Salvador is a medium roast with hints of strawberry and salted caramel and is a strength 4.

We will only have 200 bags of this limited blend which will be roasted to order. The coffee will be available in beans or ground in 250g bags. This blend will be offered exclusively to our online customers and those of you who visit us at Edinburgh Farmers' Market each Saturday.

We would like to say a big thank you to the Berwick Advertiser for giving us such a lovely write up on what we have been doing the past 18 months. Without the support of our local community, we could not have come this far!

Northern Edge Coffee have just been awarded funding from LEADER in the Northumberland Coast & Lowlands area, part of the Rural Development Programme for England which is jointly funded by Defra and the European Union.

The last year has seen local coffee roasters, Northern Edge Coffee, go from strength to strength. Since opening their doors in early 2015 as a one man band, they have since employed two members of staff and have just received 40% funding for their new coffee roaster from LEADER, a European grant scheme which aims to help small business grow. This money has been put towards the purchase of a new, larger coffee roaster which will help Northern Edge increase their productivity and will in turn allow them to create more jobs locally.

All of their coffee is lovingly roasted to bring out only the best flavour and each individual blend is named after a piece of Berwick Upon Tweed’s vast history. In addition to ensuring all their speciality coffee is ethically sourced and roasted to its prime, Northern Edge make every effort to ensure their business benefits the local community. They do so by periodically hosting coffee mornings which have so far raised over £2,000 which has benefitted local charities including BARK and the Special Care Baby Unit at the Borders General Hospital.

Northern Edge Coffee would like to say a special thanks to all of their loyal customers, new and old, without whom none of this would have been possible. In thanks for this support, they plan to continue finding new and creative ways to give back to the local community.

For a first hand taste of Berwick’s own speciality coffee, Northern Edge will be at the Berwick Food and Beer festival on the 2nd and 3rd of September and in the meantime you can find them online.
